West-Central Africa

From Mauritania in the northwest to the Republic of Congo to the south and Chad in the northeast, the West-Central Africa Division (WAD) is comprised of 22 countries.

With a population of about 350 million, the division has a church membership of about 865,000 people worshiping at 3,400 churches. The division was reorganized in 2003 when the denomination added a third division in Africa to accommodate church growth on the continent.

WAD has three universities in its territory. Nigeria is home to Babcock University, which includes the Benjamin S. Carson School of Medicine. The school has more than 5,800 students and is among the top three largest universities in the denomination by enrollment. Ghana is home to Valley View University, and Adventist University Cosendai is located in Cameroon. The University is one of only two private universities in Cameroon whose degrees are recognized by the government. The school has about 370 students.
