Released by: Rick Kajiura Phone: +31-30-955-324 (June 29-July 8) or +301-680-6300 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 7, 1995 YOUTH MAKE IMPACT ON UTRECHT Utrecht, The Netherlands... Impact Utrecht 95 has brought 320 youth from 61 countries to participate in a field school of youth evangelism simultaneously with the world session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church being held at the Jaarbeurs Convention Center, June 29-July 8. Ole Kendel, youth director of the Trans-European Division with headquarters in St. Albans, England, is directly responsible for the organization of Impact Utrecht 95. Impact Utrecht 95 is a public evangelism project involving youth who have formed various street witnessing groups to perform in places scattered throughout the city of Utrecht. Once attracted to the street programs, people are invited to attend one of three meetings being held in the evening at the Muziekschool, the Utrecht Adventist church, and a local theater. The 320 youth are divided up into groups who specialize in singing, drama, preaching, puppets, or pantomime. During Impact Utrecht each group has performed several times in different spots around the city during the day and are rotated between the evening meetings. The groups on the street have been successful in attracting attention from passers-by. While great success is being reported for the evangelistic efforts, the main purpose has been to train youth in street-witnessing skills and to motivate them to start their own projects at home. Global Mission and their local divisions sponsored 200 of the youth who are participating in the event. Kwasi Senanu Gameti, from Togo, says he has "learned a new preaching style, and I feel like I have made a major achievement." Impact volunteers have done a tremendous public relations job. The Utrecht Adventist Church is planning follow-up seminars on who Adventists are, following the Church world session. -end-
