Additional election results have been released at the 56th world congress of the Seventh-day Adventist Church meeting at the Jaarbeurs Convention Center June 28-July 8. Pyung Duk Chun, 58, originally from Korea, has been reelected as president of the Asia-Pacific Division of the church with headquarters in Singapore, Republic of Singapore. Erich Amelung, 63, originally from Germany, has been reelected as treasurer of the Euro-Africa division of the church with headquarters in Berne, Switzerland. He has served in this capacity since 1970 and is being elected for a 6th term. A new general secretary for the division was elected. He is Carlos Puyol, 56, originally from Spain. He is currently serving as pastor of the Madrid Seventh-day Adventist Church. Puyol previously served as president of the Spanish Union of Churches from 1987-1994. He was director of Colegio Adventista de Segunto from 1982-1987. Puyol holds a Ph.D. degree in church history from the University of Madrid. The Inter-American division with headquarters in Miami, Florida, U.S.A. has reelected Agustin Galicia, 50, originally from Mexico, as general secretary of this division which covers the nations of Central America and the Caribbean region. Also reelected for another 5-year term is treasurer, Ramon H. Maury, 62, born in Colombia but holding U.S. citizenship. Two new officers wereelected July 4 for the South American Division with headquarters in Brasilia, Brazil. Roberto Gullon, , born in Spain and a citizen of Argentina, was elected as general secretary of the division. He has been currently serving as general manager of the Asociacion Casa Editora Sudamericana (Buenos Aires Publishing House). Elected as treasurer of the South American division is Alipio B. de Rosa, , originally from Brazil. Da Rosa is currently serving as administrator of Hospital Adventista Silvestre located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From the South Pacific Division with headquarters in Sydney, Australia two additional officers have been announced. Reelected to the office of general secretary is Laurie J. Evans, 53, originally from Australia. Elected as treasurer of the division is Warwick H. Stokes, 55, originally from New Zealand but holding Australian citizenship. Stokes has currently been serving as chief executive officer of Sydney Adventist Hospital in Wahroonga, New South Wales, Australia. He has previously served as financial officer for Avondale College and at other levels of church administration in the South Pacific Division. In the Trans-European division with headquarters in St. Albans, England, treasurer, Graham Barham, AGE, originally from England, has been reelected to a five-year term. Also newly elected as general secretary of the division is Reinder Bruinsma, 52, originally from The Netherlands. Bruinsma has been serving as field secretary, communication, public affairs, and religious liberty director for the division. He holds a doctoral degree from London University. Other elections announced in Utrecht, July 4, are for numerous departmental directors at the General Conference world headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, U.S.A. Eric A. Korff, originally from South Africa, was elected director of auditing services. He had been serving as associate director. Rajmund Dabrowski, originally from Poland, was reelected as communications director. Humberto M. Rasi, originally from Argentina, was reelected to another 5-year term as director of the education department. Albert S. Whiting was reelected as the director of health and temperance. The newly reelected director of the Ministerial Association is James A. Cress. Ronald E. Appenzeller has been reelected to another 5-year term as director of the publishing department at the General Conference. The director of the trust services department, G. Tom Carter, has been reelected to a five-year term. Rose M. Otis has been reelected as director of the office of women's ministries. An action was taken earlier in the session to dismantle the former church ministries department into individually focused entities. Consequently, James Zackrison was elected as director of the newly formed Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Departments. One new face in the departmental staff at the world headquarters will be John Graz, 49, holding dual citizenship in France and Switzerland. He was elected as the director of the Public Affairs and Religious Liberty Department. Graz has currently been serving as Youth and Communication Director at the Euro-Asia division headquarters in Berne, Switzerland. He holds a Ph.D. degree in church history from Sorbonne University of Paris (1986). -end-
