Maria and Theresa Mamah
After losing both parents, 13-year old twin sisters Maria and Theresa Mamah moved from Nigeria to the United States to live with their older sister. Raised in a Catholic family, the sisters had never even heard of Seventh-day Adventists when they enrolled in Union Springs Academy in Union Springs, New York. A Bible search to prove their classmates wrong and the guidance of a kind pastor led the twins to be baptized at the age of 16. While both sisters are studying different subjects at Andrews University—Maria, digital multimedia and marketing, and Theresa, speech pathology and audiology—both have the same goal; to one day open an orphanage. “We want to show kids without parents that God loves them, even if no one else does.”
