Lanzarote, one of the seven major Canary Islands, is a small spot in the Atlantic Ocean 100 kilometers from the coast of Africa and 1,000 km south of the Iberian Peninsula. In 1990, Alberta and Mary Valls were asked to move there and communicate hope to the people. Today, more than 37 people worship weekly and are building a church. The Vallses meet twice a month with a small group on Fuerteventura, a nearby island. This is the second mission adventure for the Valls. They served on the island of Palma de Mallorca and when that assignment ended, Mary told God she would "go anywhere He wanted, but please not to another island!" God, of course, moved in His own way and today Mary says, "We would not have enough paper to write all the miracles we've seen and experienced."
